Free online webinars in Term 4, 2021 Webinar 1 – Wills: 2.00 pm - 2.30 pm, Thursday 4 November Webinar 2 – Family Law 101: 2.30 pm - 3.00 pm, Thursday 11 November Webinar 3 – Neighbourhood Disputes: 2.00 pm - 2.30 pm, Thursday 18 November Webinar 4 – Powers of Attorney: 2.00 pm - 2.30 pm, Thursday 25 November About Ballarat & Grampians Community Legal Service Ballarat & Grampians Community Legal Service (BGCLS) is a not-for-profit organisation providing free legal advice, information and community legal education to people who live, work or study in the Central Highlands and Wimmera regions of Victoria. BGCLS assists not only with individual legal matters, but also more broadly in community development, community legal education, capacity building and law and policy reform projects based on the needs of our community. We actively work in partnership wherever possible, with government, Victoria Legal Aid and other publicly funded legal assistance service providers, pro bono contributors, the private legal profession, community services agencies and other community partners to ensure the best outcomes for their clients and community.

The Ballarat East Neighbourhood House is partnering with Rachel from nbn Local to offer eight free-of-charge Digital Literacy Sessions in Term 4, 2021. For more information and details about booking one these sessions with Rachel, please contact the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House.  If you would like to participate in the online session, but do not have access to a digital device, please let us know as we may be able to loan a device to you. Location: Online via Zoom and, later in the term, in-person at the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House, Barkly Square, Ballarat East. Date: Every Wednesday from 27 October - 15 December 2021. Please note that the sessions held before Friday 5 November will be delivered online via Zoom as the Neighbourhood House is operating remotely. Time: 10.30 am – 11.30 am, Wednesdays Digital Literacy Program (please note that we have rearranged the normal order of these sessions as we felt delivering the 'Getting started' and 'Getting connected' sessions would be more suited to face-to-face sessions, to be held later in the series when we are hopefully back on-site).

Join us for a series of creative musings and discover how much fun it is to create with no pressure of creating anything at all…just the intention be free and to explore whatever your mind or spirit wants to. Creating in a group is a wonderful way to connect with other people while feeling no pressure and a wonderful way to discover a positive dialogue with your inner self. What messages have you got for yourself? This is a Learn Local 5-week course and costs $15.00 per class. While the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House remains operating remotely, it will be delivered online via Zoom. Please note that a minimum of 5 people will be required for this class to go ahead. Wednesdays 4.00 pm - 6.00 pm Please bring: a visual diary - blank notebook of whatever size you are drawn to mod podge or painting medium as glue a small selection of acrylic paint, three colours is great paint brushes, fine, medium and a cheap large one for glue A grey lead pencil pens…ink and paint pens can be great a couple of old magazines thread, foil, netting; anything that catches your eye scissors a small jar for washing brushes Bianca is a transformational artist and healer who loves to teach people how to use creativity as a means of accessing what they need within themselves. Skilled in a variety of art practices Bianca loves to pass on her skills and inspire others.

Chatty Wednesdays Online - Term 4, 2021

Chatty Wednesdays Chatty Wednesdays is a lovely opportunity to come along and meet people in a relaxed, casual environment. Please note that while the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House remains operating remotely, we will run Chatty Wednesdays online via Zoom. As soon as we are able to return to activities on site, we will run Chatty Wednesdays back at A Pot of Courage Cafe at Barkly Square. SPECIAL online event: Wednesday 20 October - Chatty Wednesdays Conversations with Lisa. We will launch Chatty Wednesdays for Term 4 with a special session facilitated by the ever so chatty Lisa. She will have some conversations starters to get the chatting started and keep it going! When: 9.30 am - 10.30 am Wednesdays (during school term). Where: For now, online via Zoom. When the Neighbourhood House reopens, we will meet at the large table by the children's corner at A Pot of Courage Cafe, Barkly Square, 25-39 Barkly Street, Ballarat East. Who: All welcome. Cost: Free of charge. You can purchase a hot drink/snack from the cafe or enjoy a free cuppa donated by another member of our community from the Pay it Forward wall. Get Creative - Rag Rugs, Bags, Throws and more

Learn Stick Weaving and other techniques to transform your old clothes into beautiful rugs, quilts, bags or throws. This course is free of charge and, while the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House remains operating remotely, will be delivered online via Zoom. Tuesdays 4.00 pm - 6.00 pm Save your old threads from landfill and do your bit to contribute to the circular use of resources while learning an easy, fun, traditional skill. Make weaving sticks for various hand weaving projects and learn how to create a stick loom for large projects. Please bring some old clothes, preferably cotton, or bedsheets, to cut up for weaving and scissors that will cut fabric easily. Equipment/supplies: 4 x 20 cm pieces of dowel, or straight sticks with hole drilled through one end (we are looking in to getting these made and supplied to those who register) sandpaper to smooth the sticks or dowel ball of strong cotton yarn  scissors wool needle that will pass through the hole in the stick. old clothes, preferably cotton  Bianca is a transformational artist and healer who loves to teach people how to use creativity as a means of accessing what they need within themselves.
